NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Bettye Louise Johnson Allen of Davidson County died July 30, 2006, after a short illness.
Daughter of the late Kirby and Thelma Johnson, Bettye firmly believed in "give back" and besides supporting her adoring family, she participated in numerous local organizations, serving as president for the United Methodist Women, the Vanderbilt Hospital Auxiliary and the Nashville Opera Guild, as well as holding offices in the Horticultural Society of Middle Tennessee, her beloved Singing Hills Garden Club, the Centennial Club and others.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Joseph Hunter Allen; son, Kirby and his wife, Linda (Hauskins), and their children, Hunter, Sarah and David; and son, Joseph H. Allen III and his wife, Evelyn (Storey), and their children, Daniel and Bonnie; also by her brother, William C. Johnson and sister-in-law, Nancy (Sharp) Johnson of Allardt.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in Reed Hall at West End United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at the church.
Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home of Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
