SIKESTON - The Southeast Missouri district convention of the Future Business Leaders will be held Saturday at the high school. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the administration building.
BENTON - A total of $3,043,473.43 has been appropriated by the Scott County Commission for the 1987 fiscal year budget including: $1,803,209.52 for general fund; $983,300 for road and bridge; $167,773.91 assessment; and $89,190 for drainage.
CHARLESTON - Commander Sgt. Major Bill Adams of the Missouri National Guard was the featured speaker at an appreciation luncheon for Charleston employers who allow their workers time off for the National Guard.
BENTON - Jamie Welter, a fifth grade student at St. Denis School, won first place at the district St. Louis Post-Dispatch Spelling Bee. She out spelled 27 other students at the event, held at West Lane Elementary School in Jackson. Jamie will compete at the state competition March 22 at the St. Louis Arts Museum.
SIKESTON - Scott Huff Insurance, which has been in business for 77 years, recently acknowledged employees for their dedication. Kay Jackson was cited for more than 25 years of service to the firm's customers.
SIKESTON - The Southeast Board of Realtors, which includes the area south of Sikeston to the Arkansas line, has voted to consolidate with the Sikeston Board of Realtors. The merger will increase the group's membership by 55 members.
