ORAN -- James Hartwell Jones, 93, died Nov. 19, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 18, 1913, in Illinois, son of the late John Robert and Callie Susanna Darrah Jones, he was a self-employed farmer and former president of the Perkins Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Oran where he was a member of the Men's Club and the Sunshine Club.
On May 29, 1939, he married Catherine Schott who preceded him in death on Jan. 6, 1963.
Seven brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son, John Robert Jones of Oran; three daughters, Margaret Blackstone of Delta, Elda Jane Murphy of Atlanta and Jane Huebner of Niceville, Fla.; a niece, Linda Glastetter of Benton; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Oran. The Rev. Don Gandt will officiate.
Burial will follow in Friend Cemetery at Oran.
