PUXICO -- Larry Joe Whitsel Sr., 55, died Jan. 1, 2007, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

Born Jan. 24, 1951, in Sikeston, son of Jean Gunter Whitsel Trout of Puxico and the late Marion Mac Whitsel, he had lived in Missouri most of his life but had also lived in California. A veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy, he was a self-

employed carpenter.

In addition to his mother, survivors include: one son, Larry Joe "Buster" Whistel Jr. of Dexter; one daughter, Tori Whitsel of Arkansas; one brother, Kent Whitsel of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four stepbrothers, Charles Ray Trout of Bloomfield, Randy Trout of O'Fallon and Jim Trout and Dennis Trout of Puxico; eight grandchildren; and a special friend, Sandy Wilson of Puxico.

One brother, Stephen Dale Whitsel; and his stepfather, Bill Trout, also preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, where burial with full military rites provided by the Stoddard County Veteran's Honor Team will be held.

Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico is in charge of arrangments.
