ST. CHARLES -- Gilbert Thatcher Scism, 99, died April 7, 2007, at Garden View Care Center in O'Fallon.

Born Sept. 26, 1907, in Bloomfield, son of the late Thomas Gilbert and Myrtie Cleveland Scism, he was retired from Production Credit Association in Sikeston. Mr. Scism had been a resident of St. Charles for several years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in St. Charles, the Rotary Club of St. Charles and Rotary Past District Governor in Sikeston.

His wife, Ivah Baskerville, preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 1995.

One brother, Byron Scism, also preceded him in death.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Bert and Carolyn Scism of St. Charles; one daughter and son-in-law, Sam and Vera Scism of Park Hills; one sister-in-law, Bettye Scism of Dexter; two granddaughters, Gwendolyn Scism and Diana and husband, Mike, Cornett of St. Charles; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Cornett of St. Charles; and other relatives and many friends survive to mourn his passing.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at noon Wednesday at Chiles-

Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
