NEW MADRID -- Mabel Jeanette Chadd Ritchie, 75, died Nov. 7, 2006, at Cape Girardeau.
Born Jan. 16, 1931, in Kewanee, she was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Melvin and Dorothy Lucille Lands Chadd.
She was married to James Ernest Kennedy, who preceded her in death. To this union, four children were born. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, James Eugene and Melinda Kennedy and Bobby Lee and Debbie Kennedy; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Camilla L. and Rick Byerly and Connie K. and Ralph Byerly.
On June 1, 1979, in New Madrid, she married Donald Lee Ritchie, who survives at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau. With this marriage, there were five children from previous marriages to be united with Mabel's four children: Barbara Middle of Traskwood, Ark., Earnest Ritchie of Milton, Fla., Lee Ritchie of Traskwood, Tony Ritchie of Matthews and Larry Ritchie of St. Augustine, Texas.
She is also survived by two brothers, Rass Chadd of Matthews and Russell Chadd of Tennessee; one sister, Shirley Ward of Sikeston; and 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Louis Chadd.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Norman Oogles will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at New Madrid. Paid obituary
