SIKESTON -- Aaron Dobbs Jr., 68, died Jan. 31, 2007, at his home.
Born Feb. 9, 1938, in Caruthersville, son of the late Aaron and Beatrice Gordon Dobbs Sr., he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the Aircraft Carrier Oriskany. He attended Trinity Gospel Church and was a member of Moolah Shrine Temple and the Semo Shrine Club. Before retiring in 1993, he worked for AmerenUE.
On Aug. 4, 1961, in St. Louis, he married Marcie Whaley who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Nina Robeson of Sikeston; four sisters, Cordie Spalding and Mattie Dorrough of Nashville, Tenn., Leo Morgan of Millington, Tenn., and Johnny Broughton of Ft. Worth, Texas; and two grandchildren, Dillon Shane Robeson and Alyssa Erin Robeson of Sikeston.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Franklin Dobbs; and three sisters, Olena Stratton, Marie McCall and Pascal Mitchell.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Larry Davis, pastor of Trinity Gospel Church, will officiate.
Burial with full military rites will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
