ESSEX - John Henry Davis Sr., 79, died Jan. 30, 2007, at his home.
Born April 27, 1927, in Neeleyville, son of the late Nelson and Lacy Branchcomb Davis, he had lived the past 57 years in Essex where he was a retired farmer.
In 1946, in Charleston, he married Beatrice Hester who preceded him in death on July 2, 1995.
Three brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: seven sons, Tommy Lee Davis, John Davis Jr. and Larry Henry Davis of St. Louis, Randy Davis of Memphis, Tenn., Ricky Davis of Essex and Kenny Farr and Ronnie Dale Farr of Howardville; eight daughters, Barbara Tippett of St. Louis, Michelle Davis of Atlanta, Carolyn Weaver of Arkadelphia, Ark., Jackie Warfield, Gwender Davis and Sherry Davis of Sikeston, Janice McFerren of New Madrid and Judy Robinson of Salem, N.C.; 45 grandchildren, many great-
grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Willie Mae Chamberlain of Essex.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of services at noon Saturday at the Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church in Sikeston. The Rev. Ricky Davis of Essex and Ronnie Webb of Poplar Bluff will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Sunset of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston with Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
