SIKESTON - Mrs. L.E. Webb of Sikeston Chapter No. 137, Order of the Eastern Star, was honored at the 92nd Annual Session of Grand Chapter of Missouri in an installation ceremony. Mrs. Webb became the new district deputy grand matron of District 50. The installation was part of Grand Chapter meeting in St. Louis' Kiel Auditorium on Oct. 10-12.

SIKESTON - The Saints, a Dixieland jazz combo, have been practicing for the upcoming Farmer's Recognition Banquet. They will be the featured performers at the event slated for Nov. 25 at the Ramada Inn.


SIKESTON - The Women's Civic Club of Sikeston has scheduled its annual Christmas Home Tour for Dec. 14. This is the 23rd year for this community Christmas tradition. The $2 tickets includes all four homes.

SIKESTON - The completion of the four-lane Highway 60 between Dexter and Morehouse is closer to reality with the signing of a paving contract Nov. 8. The much anticipated project is expected to be completed in late 1997. Earlier this week MoDOT announced the Illinois Valley Paving Company will provide the new concrete paving for the project. The amount of the bid is $8,982,460 for the road and shoulders.


CHARLESTON - Charleston Bluejays' Nick Pratt ran a 65-yard touchdown in the third quarter of the Bluejays 12-7 win over rival New Madrid County Central Wednesday at Charleston. Pratt was the leading rusher with 113 yards on 17 carries. Charleston now advances to the state playoffs.
