Bank announces loan program for revitalization

Sunday, September 17, 2006

SIKESTON - A special loan program will be offered by First State Bank and Trust Co. to assist downtown Sikeston business owners with revitalization efforts. The program was announced by Mike Marshall, president of First State Bank and Trust Co.

"During the past several months, we have met with local business leaders and residents as part of the Historic Midowntown Development Group," said Marshall. "It became clear that even with the efforts of everyone involved, the community needed to provide financial incentives to building owners and businesses to invest in downtown Sikeston."

He said as a community bank in Sikeston, First State Bank and Trust Co. wanted to help the process by providing a low-cost loan program.

"This is just one way we can help our community grow and proper. It goes hand-in-hand with the involvement of many of our employees in the community," added Marshall. "This is what being a locally-managed community bank is about. As a provider of financial services in Sikeston, we feel a responsibility to respond to Sikeston's needs and create a program that will benefit, and more importantly, improve our city."
