Our Sikeston High School FFA Chapter Officers were present with their school sponsors Lincoln Scherer and Joanna Branson. Crista South, the chapter's reporter recited the FFA Creed. We had a great crowd and good time celebrating our agricultural roots. We often forget that we are still very much an agricultural economy and our farmers play an important role in our area's success. We thank the farming community for all that they do and are happy that the chamber can celebrate their outstanding members each year with this awards luncheon.
The Chamber is now busy preparing for our 58th Annual Awards Banquet to be held April 3 at the Sikeston High School Field House. The event will begin at 6:30 with several awards being presented including Educator of Year, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year, Business of the Year, Citizen of the Year and more.
Award nomination forms are in the February newsletter or can be picked up at the SACC offices. Mark your calendar and make plans to attend this special community wide event that celebrates our area best.
And don't forget April 11 and 12 will be our 14th Annual Redneck Barbecue at the Sikeston Jaycee Rodeo Grounds. We are excited about this year's competition that brings in the best cookers from around southeast Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee, and Arkansas. Make plans to come out on Saturday the 12th and enjoy the competition and entertainment with children's games, music and of course great barbecue provided by these outstanding barbecue teams.
