Born July 22, 1933, in Morehouse, daughter of the late Herbert and Zora Jeeter Brown, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter.
On Aug. 10, 1949, in Piggott, Ark., she married Robert "Bob" Kirkland who survives of the home in Dexter.
Other survivors include: one son, Michael F. Kirkland of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah Shcott of New Hamburg and Cheryl Parker of Sikeston; four brothers, Bud Brown of Murrieta, Calif., Howard Brown of Cape Girardeau, Gene Brown of Millersville and Kenny Brown of St. Louis; two sisters, Charlene Holt of Sikeston and Ina Wyrick of Morehouse; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Three sisters, Laura Kitchen, Lorene Wamble and Lucille Payne, preceded her in death.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with Dr. Kevin Chenoweth officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
