SIKESTON - Richard Gephardt, an unannounced candidate for president, is expected to attend the 8th District Democratic Rally for Sen. Thomas F. Eagleton, according to 160th District State Rep. Betty C. Hearnes, co-

chairman of the event, which is set for Oct. 25 at the Sikeston National Guard Armory.


EAST PRAIRIE - Third graders from A.J. Martin Elementary School at East Prairie spent a pleasant fall day touring Big Oak Tree State Park. Ruben Templeton, superintendent of the park, and two park naturalists presented four 30-minute discussions on trees, birds, insects and plants.

SIKESTON - In recognition of his efforts as a farmer and a Jaycee, the Missouri Jaycees selected Robert L. Keller Jr. as Outstanding Young Farmer. The award, co-sponsored by American Cyanamid and Farm Credit Service, was presented to Keller during the Missouri Jaycees meeting in Jefferson City.


SIKESTON - Sikeston will host a one-day traffic safety workshop sponsored by the Missouri Division of Highway Safety Wednesday. Some of the issues to be addressed include: driving while intoxicated and other alcohol-safety issues, and other programs for local communities. The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m.
