Jack Mercer

SIKESTON -- Jackie R. Mercer, 68, died at 3:22 p.m. Jan. 6, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born March 17, 1938, in Wardell, son of the late Allen and Velma Barron Mercer, he was owner/operator of Mercer Auto Body Shop in Sikeston. He was of the Baptist belief.

On Nov. 1, 1958, in Sikeston, he married Carol Godwin, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Shane Golightly of Sikeston; one son, Jeff Dover of Sikeston; one brother, Allen Mercer of Nashville, Ill.; one sister, Jolene Tyrone of Sikeston; and four grandchildren, Lindsey Mercer, Geena Hooper, Josh Golightly and Dalton Golightly, all of Sikeston.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Miner, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. The Rev. John Tarter, pastor, will officiate.

Honorary daughters will be: Tona Nicoson, Lisa Ruby Angle and Becky Sullins Crumpecker.

Nunnelee Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
