Born Dec. 26, 1938, at Morehouse, to the late Waldo and Louise Neal Ford, he was an author, a member of the First General Baptist Church, the Heartland Writer's Guild and the owner of Richard's and Rich-Plus Paper Company in Downtown Dexter. He received a law degree from Memphis State University and was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.
On May 28, 1961, at Morehouse, he married Rosemary Sliger, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Henry Ford of Dexter; one daughter, Rhonda Neuman of Olathe, Kan.; one brother, Ronald Ford of Huntsville, Ala.; and two grandchildren, Rachel Neuman and Zack Neuman of Olathe.
Visitation is from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Kenneth Biggs will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
