HESSTON, Kan. - Mary Henson Hopkins, 99, died Nov. 17, 2006, in Hesston.
Born March 15, 1907, at St. Marys, Mo., daughter of the late Urban and Blanche Conrade Birch, she graduated from Cape Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo. She taught school for 30 years in southeast Missouri and was a member of Missouri and Stoddard County Retired Teachers Association and the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield, Mo.
On Feb. 19, 1927, she married Ralph "Pete" Henson who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 1955. On Dec. 25, 1957, she married Elmer Hopkins who preceded her in death on May 21, 2004.
Survivors include: one son, Bryon "Kent" Henson; one daughter, Donna Sue Cook of Houston; one stepdaughter, Barbara West of Cape Girardeau; and seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, three step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield. Dr. Dave Bryan and the Rev. Matt Johnson will officiate.
Burial will follow in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
