ST. JOHN, Kan. - Helen Malin Reuber, 97, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Dec. 31, 2006, at South Wind Hospice House in Pratt.
Born March 21, 1909, in Springfield, Mo., to the late Thomas Alney and Sarah Eula Smith Malin, she was a longtime resident of St. John, and a former school teacher and counselor at Sikeston schools. She received a bachelor's degree in English with a minor in music from Drury College in Springfield. She then received a master's degree in counseling from the University of Denver. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, PEO, Hesperian Club and the 90's Club, all of St. John.
In 1930, in rural Stafford County, she married Harold Eugene Reuber, who preceded her in death.
One son, John Thomas Reuber; and one sister, Vera Davidson, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: one son, Harold Eugene Reuber Jr. of Olathe; one foster daughter, Doris Poat of Paducah; one sister, Aline Soden of St. John; and four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Minnis Chapel in St. John, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Robbie Fall officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairview Park Cemetery at St. John.
