MATTHEWS -- Woodrow Hawkins, 86, died at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born Nov. 13, 1919, in Sikeston, son of the late George Franklin and Lilly May Wright Hawkins, he was head custodian for the state highway department. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a corporal in the 394th Infantry during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Eastside Nazarene Church.

On Feb. 6, 1946, in Sikeston, he married Lois Camille Henley, who preceded him in death on Nov. 8, 2003.

Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Carolyn Kay and Daniel A. Croy of San Diego; two grandchildren, Kasey Croy Johnson of Kansas City and Nathan Daniel Croy of Columbus, Ohio; and two great-grandsons, Matthew Ryan Johnson II and Tyler Daniel Johnson of Kansas City.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. until time for services at 7 p.m. Thursday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Brian Blankenship, pastor of the Eastside Nazarene Church in Sikeston, will officiate with assistance from the Rev. Preston Palmer of Poplar Bluff.

Burial with full military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
