SIKESTON -- Vernon E. Magee, 72, formerly of Mississippi County, died at 4 p.m. Sept. 6, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 15, 1934, in Crocket County, Tenn., son of the late J.W. and Zora Stinnett Magee, he had lived in Mississippi County near Brewers Lake for 38 years until moving to Sikeston in 1990 and had been employed in farming until ill health forced his retirement in October 1988. He was a member of Wyatt Baptist Church.
On Nov. 30, 1952, he married Loretta Wallace who survives of the home in Sikeston.
Other survivors include: two sons, Lonnie Eugene Magee of Sikeston and Daryl Vernon Magee of LaCenter, Ky.; two sisters, Louise Smith of rural Charleston and Rebecca Manning of Bethalto, Ill.; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where visitation will continue from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Armer Cemetery near Bertrand with the Rev. Amos Bees, pastor of the Little Brushy Baptist Church in Wappapello, officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Casey Glisson, Terry Clifton, Ray Crisel, Ronnie Smith, Robert Smith Jr. and David Magee
