He was born May 13, 1933, in Sikeston, Mo., where he grew up. John enjoyed a 32-year career with Continental Airlines. He was a man of strong faith, family and integrity. John was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Trinity Chorale for nearly 20 years. He touched many lives and will be dearly missed. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Vitas Hospice, especially Erin, for taking care of him with love and care.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Marjorie Bloomfield; his loving daughters, Mary Tedder and husband Wayne, Nancy Evans Coronado and husband Robert and Ruth Mitchell and husband Jim; his grandsons, Nick Evans, Colton Coronado, James Mitchell and Matthew Mitchell; brother Thomas and wife Dorothy; sister Elizabeth Cope; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Baptist Church at 319 E. Mulberry. The Rev. John R. Park Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends in the Creative Life Center at the church following the service.
A private burial will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
