CHARLESTON - Opal Gertrude Noisworthy, 85, died at 10:25 p.m. June 5, 2006, at her home in Charleston.
Born Nov. 18, 1920, in Miller City, Ill., to the late Leslie E. and Gertrude Josephine Childers Bowers, she had lived in Mississippi County since 1932. She was employed with Knights Department Store and Duenne Fabric Shop in Charleston until her retirement and was a longtime member of the Wyatt United Methodist Church and then became a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston.
On Aug. 29, 1937 she married Paul Noisworthy who preceded her in death on July 23, 1982.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Mike Haas of Cape Girardeau; one granddaughter, Angie Haas Connell of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Dorothy Rodriquez of Quincy, Ill. and Mary Jewel Smith of Cairo, Ill.; and one great-granddaughter.
One brother, Leslie Lowell Bowers; and one sister, Thelma Jo McDaniel, preceded her in death.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston with the Rev. Roger Jespersen, and the Rev. Harold Norton, sirector of senior adult ministries at the First United Methodist Church in Sikeston, officiating.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.
