New Madrid area skateboarders got to try a version of a skateboard park they hope to build in their community Monday afternoon. An area set aside by the city of New Madrid was turned into a skateboard park demonstration by the American Ramp Company featuring a half-pipe, wedge flat and launch ramps. The young people have raised more than $3,000 for the park and have gathered several pledges toward the estimated $22,000 construction costs.Among the 30 to 40 youngsters testing their skateboarding skills was Jared Kellogg of New Madrid.
