ALTON - Susan O. Forester, 57, died Aug. 6, 2006, at Cox South Hospital.
Born Feb. 21, 1949, in Knobel, Ark., to the late Raymond Eugene and Iva Dell Hart, she was a 1967 graduate of Portageville High School and attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, where she received a Bachelor of Science in secondary education. She received certifications in elementary education, remedial reading and special education, as well as a Master of Science in education from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. She taught for 29 years at many schools in Missouri, including Portageville, before retiring in 2004. She was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association, the Council of Exceptional Children, the Learning Disabilities Association and the International Reading Association.
On Aug. 23, 1968, she married Charlie Gene Forester, who survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters and one son-in-law, Sara Beth Forester of Strafford and Donna Jo and Paul Pentecost of Royal Oak, Mich.; one sister, Roberta Hart Dale of Strafford; and two granddaughters.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Clary Funeral Home in Alton.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bond Cemetery in Knobel, Ark. Family and friends will gather at the Knobel Community Center following the service.
