SIKESTON - Firemen were called at 1:30 p.m. today to extinguish a blaze at Lambert's Cafe, Highway 61 South. There was no damage. A transformer to the neon sign at the front of the building apparently shorted and caused wires to burn and smoke.

SIKESTON - Norman Lambert, owner of Lambert's Cafe has plans for a spot located a half-mile up East Malone Avenue from the current home of the famous eating establishment. Lambert said his new cafe will seat 300 and have space for 115 cars in its parking lot. Groundbreaking gets under way in the spring.

Scientists give a probability of up to 60 percent for a damaging New Madrid quake, magnitude 6.0 or higher, within 15 years. Over 50 years, that figure climbs to more than 95 percent.
