CHAFFEE - William Edward "Ed" White, 90, died at 1:15 a.m. Sept. 3, 2006, at Chaffee Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 20, 1916, in Chaffee, to William Henry and Virgin Minnie Slinkard White, he had retired from the Florsheim Shoe Company in Chaffee. He was a member of Chaffee VFW Post 3127 and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a gunner during World War II earning three Bronze Stars.
On June 21, 1941, he married Dessie Jones, who preceded him in death on March 1, 2002.
Three brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son, Larry White of Chaffee; one daughter, Phyllis Glueck of Chaffee; four sisters, Mary Dennis of Chaffee, Camille Crumbaugh of Springfield, Ill., Carol Morris Whitler of Jackson and Martha Standridge of Sikeston; and two grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two great-
Visitation is after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Revs. Jack Hargraves and Bob Lewis will officiate.
Burial with full millitary honors will follow in the Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
Pallbearers will be: Mike Swain, Kevan Beck, Charlie Clark, Marvin Raines, Sam Glency, Stuart Brammeier and Tim Huckstep.
