SIKESTON -- Mae Griffin, 80, died Feb. 23, 2007, in the Southeast Missouri Hospital at Cape Girardeau.
Born July 13, 1926, in Tupelo, Miss., to the late David Wesley and Virgie C. Whitaker, she lived most of her life in New Madrid County near East Prairie.
On May 10, 1947, she married Grady H. Griffin who preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1977.
One great-grandson and one sister also preceded Mae in death.
Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny H. and Melonie Griffin of East Prairie and Scott and Laura Griffin of New Madrid; three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Duke McDonald and Connie and Ron Borders of Sikeston and Joyce and Don Hart of Matthews; three brothers, John Whitaker and Melvin Whitaker of St. Louis and Frank Whitaker of Villa Ridge; three sisters, Margie Braun of Bismarck, Dorothy Atkins of Arnold and Sarah Switzer of Imperial; and 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and a great-grandson to be born in May of this year.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Larry Griffin of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Joplin, the Rev. Jeff Long of Centenary United Methodist Church of Cape Girardeau and the Rev. Gaylord Grindstaff of Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church in Sikeston will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Brad McDonald, Brent King, Chad Borders, Shay Borders, Trey Presson and Aaron Griffin.
