SIKESTON - The International Shoe Co. resumed work today after a layoff of 11 days because of an employee walk-out in St. Louis.

SIKESTON - Buddy Ebsen, known to most TV viewers as Jed Clampett of the "Beverly Hillbillies," arrived in Sikeston last night where he will entertain during the 14th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo tonight through Sunday night.


SIKESTON - "Chambers of Commerce in Scott, Mississippi, New Madrid and Stoddard counties spend thousands of dollars yearly to attract outside money and industry," Fielding Potashnick, president of the Sikeston Industrial Development Company, said today.

SIKESTON - The Four Seasons Audubon Society Chapter of Southeast Missouri recently presented a two-volume set of "Critter Books" to the pediatrics department of Missouri Delta Medical Center.


DEXTER - The SeMo John Wesley White Crusade officially opened Sunday night in Dexter with a crowd of about 1,514 residents at the Charles Bland Football Stadium. The crusade will run through Aug. 17.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Art League members recently brought smiles to children during Story Hour at the Sikeston Library by painting faces of the children. Painting faces were: JoAnn Roberts, Ann Schuchart, Melissa Holmes and Virginia Butrum. The Sikeston Art League has been a part of the local community for more than 40 years and sponsors art shows for members, as well as high school students and other area artists.


SIKESTON - Winners in the Miss Rodeo contest for children ages 12 to 23 months were Kaitlyn Dodson, first place; Christina Rae Cook, queen; and Kearsten Brianna Collins, second place. The pageant was conducted at the River Birch Mall.
