Your view: A great letter

Kudos to Mary Keenan for her view that appeared in Sunday's Standard-

Democrat. I have been thinking the same thing for quite some time and she told it like it is.

I would like to add a quote as told to defense plant workers during World War II. "Loose lips sink ships." Today's media think they have to know everything and then pass it on to the enemy via the evening new or in their newspapers. Do they not know that in today's world they al keep up with everything that happens in our country? I sometimes wonder how much common sense the so called "smart guys" have. I'm thinking very little.

All of our enemies watch as we slowly tear down all that this great country stands for. We don't need any help from abroad. Abraham Lincoln once said that "A house divided cannot stand," and I believe that this country is more divided that ever. Seems like everyone thinks only of "me" and not what is best for the citizens as a whole. Even those we elect to represent us and our values and ideas do not have our interest at heart, but only the power they will hold once in an elected office.

I often think which of these two really means what they tell us but have not intention of even trying to accomplish these goals. They talk of "our values" but they have no idea what our values are because they don't take the time to find out about them. This seems to be a famous line used by all when they want to be elected to an office.

When elected they benefit from perks that most of those who elected them do not enjoy today. They promise and promise and by now I think of those promises like when you scold your children and they promise they will never do that again. And we all know that's not going to happen.

Like Mary stated, "get with it America," freedom is not free. We must support our military so this can continue to be the land of the free for our citizens. I know this is not politically correct in our country today, but we must all pray that God will continue to bless America.
