SIKESTON - Five adults and three juveniles were arrested in connection with an armed robbery and a number of burglaries.
Casey Burton, 17, and Andrew Garner, 17, are in custody in the Scott County Jail charged with first degree robbery and armed criminal action. According to Sikeston Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden said the Aug. 21 robbery of a cab driver on Sixth Street was solved with the arrest of the Burton and Garner.
Burton also faces a number of charges involving burglaries that he and others have committed over the past several months. The burglaries were committed during the daytime and generally located in the center portion of Sikeston. Assisting in the burglaries was Michael Sherrod, 18, and three juveniles, one who was from East Prairie.
Two adults have charges pending through the Scott County Prosecutor's Office for receiving stolen property, tampering with evidence and concealing a crime.
Stolen items in these burglaries ranged from electronics such as computer systems and Sony PlayStations to jewelry, money, tennis shoes and prescription drugs. A total of 16 burglaries, one armed robbery and one theft were cleared with the arrests.
The investigation is continuing and anyone that may have been given or purchased property from any of the subjects name above is asked to call DPS at 471-6200 or 471-1500 so a determination can be made if the property might be stolen merchandise.
