CHARLESTON - Jessie Mae Williams, 57, died June 2, 2006, at her home in Charleston.
Born Jan. 3, 1949, at Charleston to James Lula Clark Williams of Charleston and the late Johnnie Lee Williams, she was a 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School and employed by the Burke family for over 33 years. A member of the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, she served on the Usher Board, Pastor's Aid Committee and the Poor Saints Committee.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Charlotta Williams of Charleston; one son, Cortez Williams of Charleston; six brothers, Charles Rose of St. Louis, Robert L. Williams of Columbia and Henry Williams, Hershel Williams, Michael Dean and Steve Williams of Charleston; five sisters, Angelene Wheeler of Dallas and Earnestine Anderson, Doris Watts, Loretta Gary and Alasie Williams of Charleston; one stepdaughter, Trina Clayton of Charleston; one stepson, Titus McCleary of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren whom she raised, Kanicka Williams, Jarobi Williams and Chancelor Williams of Charleston; and one stepgrandchild, Breshay Wilder of Charleston.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Williams Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston with the Rev. Wiley Reed officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
