WAPPAPELLO -- Barton E. Umphenour, 78, died at 3:30 p.m. June 10, 2006, at his home.
Born Dec. 4, 1927, in Danville, Ill., son of the late Carl and Martha Rehberg Umphenour, he retired as an industrial mechanic for Crown Cork and Seal in St. Louis. A member of VFW Post 3416, he served with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Merchant Marines during World War II.
On Feb. 14, 1987, in Warrenton, he married Helen Richardt, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons, Terry Umphenour of St. Louis, Jim Umphenour of Eolia and David Umphenour of St. Peters; one daughter, Lori Aly of St. Louis; two stepsons, Gene Seats of Wappapello and Carl Davis of Vichy; one stepdaughter, Janet Tanner of Tonganozie, Kan.; one brother, Charles Umphenour of Rock Hill; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-
Two sisters and three brothers also preceded him in death.
Visitation is after 4 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday. Jim Hoyt will officiate.
Full military graveside services provided by Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program will follow in Union Park Cemetery at Chaffee.
Pallbearers will be Carl Davis, C.J. Davis, Terry Umphenour, Donnie Umphenour, Gary Umphenour and Danny Finley.
