Buttrum wins Super Pro

SIKESTON -- The Junior Dragsters were gearing up for their big race on Sunday by getting a "practice" race in on Saturday night during our regular program. Almost 20 of the youngsters showed up to race and test the track for their big race the following day.

Junior Dragster Class

1st Place - Shotty Kesel, Nashville, IL DI - 8.69 ET - 8.684 MPH - 74.35 RT - .563

2nd Place - Braedan Holzhauer, Nashville, IL DI - 7.87 ET - 7.852 MPH - 85.38 RT - .521

Trophy Class

1st Place - Jake Overstreet, LaCenter, Ky DI - 12.20 ET - 12.234 MPH - 58.81 RT - .533

2nd Place - Steve Kitrel, Malden, Mo DI - 9.31 ET - 9.444 MPH - 77.06 RT - .399

For the second week in a row, we saw Jake Overstreet in a Trophy final. His opponent this week was Steve Kitrel from Malden in his sleek Indy 500 Pace Car.

ET Class

1st Place - Ronnie Overstreet, Hard Money, KY DI - 9.92 ET - 11.577 MPH - 43.76 RT - .569

2nd Place - John Daniels Dexter, MO DI - 6.75 ET - 6.775 MPH - 102.11 RT - .490

Our ET Class final featured another member of the Overstreet Racing family, in the form of Ronnie Overstreet. The car, which says "Still Testing" on the side must be in its final phases of testing, because it was right on its game Saturday.

Pro Class

1st Place - Mike Shanks Union, MO DI - 6.68 ET - 6.690 MPH - 102.31 RT - .589

2nd Place - James Free Paducah, KY DI - 6.01 ET - 6.020 MPH - 113.37 RT - .473

As the night began to wind down, we came to our Pro Class final, which featured Mike Shanks and James Free. Both drivers have had a great deal of success at the Sikeston Drag Strip, and are tough week in and week out when they are here.

Super Pro Class

1st Place - Mark Buttrum, Murphysboro, IL DI - 5.00 ET - 5.008 MPH - 137.15 RT - .511

2nd Place - Linden Hills, Fremont, MO DI - 5.36 ET - 5.373 MPH - 129.75 RT - .517 The last race of the night featured Linden Hills, who was appearing in his second consecutive final, and Mark Buttrum, who has been in several finals this year and is always one of the toughest drivers in the Super Pro class.
