BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Joy Gayle Cranick Harper, 67, died Jan. 21, 2008, after a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 28, 1940, at Bertrand, Mo., to the late Ira and Mabel Cranick, she was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She retired after 25 years of service from Bellsouth and was a Pioneer.
Her husband of 51 years, Russell Harper, survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Frances Harper of Birmingham and Stephen and Elizabeth Harper of Rockwall, Texas; four brothers, Carl Cranick of the state of North Carolina, Gene Cranick of the state of Tennessee, Ronald Cranick of the state of Oklahoma and Leslie Cranick of the state of Illinois; three sisters, Sue Moulton of the state of Illinois, Karen Williamson of the state of Missouri and Cindy Childers of Sikeston, Mo.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Howard and Kay Harper of Sikeston; and six grandsons, Brian Harper and Brandon Harper of Birmingham, and Hunter Harper, Hayden Harper, Holden Harper and Hudson Harper of Rockwall.
Funeral services were held Thursday at the Chapel of Southern Heritage.
Burial followed in Southern Heritage Cemetery.
