SIKESTON - Alice Marin was elected by the Sikeston High School seniors today as the school's contestant in the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship project.

SIKESTON - Eight and a half inches of snow have fallen in Sikeston since Friday, marking the greatest accumulation for a single period in at least 10 years. Snow started falling Friday afternoon and continued intermittently for 72 hours.

SIKESTON - A lease setting the rental fee for 71 acres of city-owned property north of the present Sikeston Country Club golf course at $11 per acre per year has been prepared and is expected to be acted on later this month. The land is sought by the country club board for the expansion of the present nine-hole golf course to 18 holes.

SIKESTON - Brian Taylor will serve as the eighth annual Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center Telethon poster child. The 5-year-old son of Ricky and Rosemary Taylor of Portageville has attended the center on a regular basis for three years.

EAST PRAIRIE - Students in Chris Reeves' Biology 2 class are studying the infrared satellite image of their hometown to learn more about how technology can assist in land management and working with the environment.

SIKESTON - Bruce Baker, special agent with the District 5 Missouri Department of Public Safety Division of Liquor Control, spent Friday evening at the Bottle Shop in Sikeston. Baker was one of two agents with the "Badges and Business" program who acted as clerks and at times as patrons of the store.
