Freshmen down Poplar Bluff, 31-23

POPLAR BLUFF -- The Sikeston ninth grade basketball team defeated Poplar Bluff 31-23 in the Poplar Bluff Invitational Thursday night.

The Bulldogs trailed 6-4 after one quarter but took a 15-11 lead by halftime.

"We started off a little slow but we turned it up in the second quarter and kept battling," said Sikeston coach Chris Sarakas.

Sikeston (7-2) was led in scoring by Daryl Howard's 15 points.
