SIKESTON - Howard W. Clark of Sikeston has taken a permit to construct a seven-room, 1 1/2 story frame dwelling, modern with full basement, in the Chaney Addition.

CHARLESTON - Although construction of the new high school building is a little behind schedule, the target date for completion of the structure is still June 30, 1967, Supt. Tom Wells said Wednesday.

SIKESTON - About 12 members of the Sikeston composite squadron of the Civil Air Patrol will participate in a bivouac Saturday and Sunday at Van Buren. Hugh McCollum, aerospace education officer, will fly the Civil Air Patrol plane to Van Buren. Other members will drive to the site.

Aug. 17, 1986

EAST PRAIRIE - A flower thief is loose in East Prairie and Sunday afternoon absconded with a whiskey barrel of flowers from in front of the Western Auto Store on Lincoln Street. Owner of the business, Delbert Wilson, reported the theft to police about 2:30 p.m. Sunday after being unsuccessful in finding the barrel on his own.

SIKESTON - A request made by Scott Matthews of the Village Green Development Company to close Southland Drive will be discussed by the Sikeston Planning and Zoning Commission during its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the City Municipal Building.

NEW MADRID - Greg Manus joined the staff at the Hunter-Dawson Historic Site in New Madrid as site administrator on July 1. Originally from Northwest Missouri, Manus has worked for the state park system for a number of years and specialized in living history programs. He replaces Delecia Huitt, who now oversees several park sites for the state of Missouri.

MATTHEWS - Daniel Sexton, former star basketball player of New Madrid County Central and Shawnee Junior College is packing his bags and heading for Jonesboro on Saturday. Sexton has joined the roster at Arkansas State University and will begin practice on Sept. 1.
