SIKESTON -- More roundups targeting those who have back fines or who have failed to pay their fines through the Sikeston city court will be conducted over the next several months.
Sikeston Department of Public Safety Director Drew Juden said Sikeston DPS, in cooperation with the city court and Judge Franklin Marshall, will conduct the roundups, which will be similar to the one conducted Aug. 30.
"Currently, the city has a large amount of money outstanding in fines, and we wish to correct that, if at all possible, with these roundups and arrests," Juden said.
DPS will move down the arrest list in alphabetical order over the next several months until it gets to the bottom of the list, Juden said.
"At that time, we will re-evaluate the success of the program, and determine what steps we will take next to cause payment to be made through the court system, or to incarcerate these individuals until their fines are paid off," Juden said.
Anyone who thinks they may be on that list is encouraged to come forward and pay their fines prior to being arrested as this will be a very aggressive approach that will be taken by the Department to make these arrests, Juden said.
