MALDEN - Ila Christine Swinford, 79, died Aug. 12, 2006, at Poplar Bluff Regional Healthcare.
Born Aug. 24, 1926, in Sprucepine, Ala., to the late McKinley and Ila Whitfield Carter, she was of the Pentecostal belief.
On Feb. 6, 1949, at Tallapoosa, she married Harmon L. Swinford, who preceded her in death on Nov. 17, 1989.
Two sons, Dale Swinford and Mike Swinford; one daughter, Sheila Swinford; two brothers, Ralph Carter and Melton Carter; four sisters, Grace Redding, Ann Swinford, Ruby Fulk and Margaret Jeffords; and one grandson also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: five sons, Eugene Carter of Poplar Bluff, Harold Swinford and James Swinford of Hartsburg, Ill., Rickey Swinford of Malden and Mark Swinford of Licking; five daughters, Barbara Redding of Bragg City, Sue Miller of Sikeston, Hope Hatton of Malden, Judy Swinford of Benid, Ill. and Carol Swinford of Campbell; one stepson, Dwight Pavy of Malden; and 37 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Roger Fowler will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton.
