EAST PRAIRIE -- Terry Lee Shands Sr., 57, died at 9:15 p.m. Jan. 18, 2007, at his home.
Born July 10, 1949, in East Prairie, son of the late Elvis and Faydean Parker Shands, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star; was the owner-operator of Shands Body Shop; played an active role in the ministry for various area churches; and attended First United Pentecostal Church of Sikeston.
On April 11, 1980, in East Prairie, he married Donna Brewer who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Terry and Theresa Shands and Michael Shands of East Prairie and Jeremiah Shands of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Christy and Brian Flanigan of Oran; seven brothers, Wayne Shands of Licking, Jerry Shands of Doniphan, Gene Shands of Granite City, Ill., Dennis Shands and Mark Shands of East Prairie, Jay Shands of Marble Hill and Randy Shands of Anniston; four sisters, LaWanda Shands of East Prairie, Judy Thomas of Yuma, Ariz., JoAnn Mansfield of Perryville and Debbie Ritchey of Hammond, La.; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. today at the family home in East Prairie until time for a memorial service at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jay Shands, pastor of Union Ridge Apostolic Church in Marble Hill, and the Rev. Brian Flanigan, pastor of Victory Life Center in Oran, officiating.
