PUXICO -- On January 19, 2007, at 2:53 p.m., Dortha Marie Helton left this world, from Puxico Nursing Center, to go to her heavenly home that she has worked toward during her lifetime. She was greeted by her Savior then escorted to where the love of her life, Wesley Helton, and her daughter, Pat Price, and several loved ones were waiting for her -- what a reunion there was on this day!
She was born March 11, 1921, in Hickory Ridge, Ark., daughter of the late Albert and Effie Cox.
On October 19, 1940, at Matthews, Mo., she married Daniel Wesley Helton who preceded her in death on May 30, 1992.
Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Patricia Price; three sisters, Ona Holden, Clara Owens and Billie Martin; and three brothers, John Gaddis, Robert Gaddis and Grover Cox.
Survivors include: one son, Wayne Helton, and friend, Carol Long, of Sikeston; two granddaughters, Tammy and Toby Castner of Sikeston and Lesley and William Williams of Wappapello; three grandsons, LeRoy and Connie Price of Grayridge, Joey Helton and Kenneth Helton of Anderson, Ind.; one sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Leo Wise of Sikeston; and 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her extended family from Puxico Nursing Center.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. Monday at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will follow at 2 p.m. with Jerry Smith, pastor of the Lakeland Assembly of God in Wappapello, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: William Williams, LeRoy Price, Chad Price, Blake Rister, Alex Roach, Denny Adams, Leo Wise and Bobby Long.
