SOMERVILLE, Tenn. - Janet Faries, 75, died Oct. 19, 2006, at Memphis.
Born July 12, 1931, in Portageville, Mo., to the late Ford and Alma Louise Hall Brodhacker, she held two master's degree and was a member of DAR. She authored a book, "The Other Room" and worked as a drug and alcohol counselor until her retirement.
On April 23, 1948, in Hernando, Miss, she married Lawrence Neal Faries, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1999.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Deborah Faries Dubois; and one brother, Lawrence Brodhacker.
Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Daniel Neal Faries of the state of Florida and Guy Lawrence "Larry" and Jeanne Faries of Memphis; one daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Billy Driscoll of Memphis; one brother, Rev. Donald Ray Brodhacker of Hannibal, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Angelique Swearingian, Andrew Faries, Gabrielle Dubois, Lawrence Dubois, Jon-Paul Hataway, Neal Driscoll, Desiree Driscoll, Albert Driscoll, Lizi Patridge, Tiffany Faries, Ashley Faries and Jenean Fox; and five great-grandchildren, Wolfgang Nelson, Tyler Patridge, Megan Patridge, Isaiah Fox and Brody Scot Swearingian.
Visitation is 6 p.m. today at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Ray Brodhacker will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
