SIKESTON -- Lillian Powell, 70, died Oct. 20, 2006, at her home.
Born Aug. 27, 1936, in Portageville, daughter of the late Alfred and Polly DeTie Simmons Sr., she was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church and had owned and operated Powells Daycare in her home for many years.
On May 13, 1955, she married Milton Powell who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2005.
Also preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband was one brother, Alfred "Cotton" Simmons Jr.
Survivors include: three daughters and one son-in-law, Janice Holt, Pamela and Major Morrison and Angela Powell of Sikeston; one son and daughter-in-
law, Larry and Rikki Powell of Sikeston; three brothers, Joe Simmons and Arden Simmons of Portageville and Gary Simmons of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Sharon Summerlin of Tupelo, Miss.; and 11 grandchildren, Amanda Powell, Ashley Powell, Rachel Powell, Lilly Powell, Craig Templeton, Laura Templeton, Corrie Winchester, Melissa Noe, Jared Townsend, Lindsey Powell and Dustin Lewis of Sikeston.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
