ST. LOUIS - Mary Margaret Shields, 88, formerly of Sikeston, died July 21, 2006, in St. Louis.
Born 1917, in Richmond Heights, she was a 1935 graduate of Ursaline Academy in St. Louis. A 30-year volunteer at hospitals in Greenwood, S.C. and Sikeston, she was an officer for the Hospital Auxiliary and an active member of the Legion of Mary for 35 years where she also served as an officer.
In 1935, she married Joseph Jennings Shields who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Carol Shields Jr., Daniel and Peggy Shields and Travis and Terry Shields; four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Ron Doss, Mary Kay and Tom Canavan, Dee and Bill Straatmann and Maggie Sanders; one brother, William Almon; one sister, Loretta Cousins; and several grandchildren and great-
One daughter, Mary Jo Shields, preceded her in death.
Services and private burial were conducted July 25 in St. Louis.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
