SIKESTON -- J.R. Jerry Watson, 81, died April 15, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 19, 1925, in Portageville, son of the late Payton and Melvie (Baker) Watson, he owned and operated Midland Engineering and had worked for Clinton Construction Company before retiring. He was a recipient of the United States Army Bronze Star for his service during World War II and had been a member of the Sikeston Jaycees and secretary of the Sikeston Country Club.
On Sept. 13, 1946, he married June (Cummins) Watson who preceded him in death on June 1, 2004.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and William F. "Bill" Ferrell of Sikeston; one brother, Eugene Watson of California; four grandchildren, Buzz Ferrell and Nikki Ferrell of Sikeston, John F. Ferrell of Winchester, Ky., and Lee Watson Ferrell of Arlington, Va.; and five great-
grandchildren, Crystal Ferrell of Lexington, Ky., Jordi Ferrell and Wyn Roberds of Sikeston, Jayvee Ferrell of Winchester and Conner Wallace of Sikeston.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. Wednesday until time of services at 2 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. David Jackson, associate pastor of First Baptist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial with full military rites will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Buzz Ferrell, John Ferrell, Lee Ferrell, Bill Ferrell, Jeff Williams and Jerry Shaw.
