SIKESTON - Cline Ables was elected president of the Sikeston Home Builders Association at an organizational meeting Monday at the Imperial Lanes. Thirty were present.


SIKESTON - The 40-member school advisory council last night at the high school recommended that the R-6 district pursue reorganization. It recommended that the voters of the district, Scott Central and R-6 are informed about the reorganization plans, as approved by the State Department of Education to be voted on May 3.

SIKESTON - Sikeston's Leven Cox shot a 37 to tie teammate Gary Laffoon for medalist honors Thursday, leading the Bulldogs to a 45-shot high school golf victory over Caruthersville.


NEW MADRID - Illustrated drawings of the development of Main Street and the riverfront presented to the Riverfront Development Commission are now on display at city hall. Representatives of Peckam, Guyton, Albiers and Viets Inc. of St. Louis presented three conceptual drawings based on the commission's recommendation to the group for study.

SIKESTON - Rev. Rick Anderson, pastor of the Prince of Peace Church, is offering a free meal to anyone who requests one from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Wednesdays in the basement of the church. "This is for anyone who need a good meal and a warm comfortable place to sit down for a while. We are very informal here and don't want to push religion down anyone's throat. Our facility is here to help our fellow man and opportunity for us as church members to minister in our community," Anderson said.
