SEMO Raceway hosts Coca Cola Showdown

BLODGETT -- Racers from Wisconsin, Indiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, and Alabama came together April 8 to race for the $23,000 Purse offered by SEMO RACEWAY for their 5th Annual Coca Cola Spring Showdown.

Saturday's race had 171 drivers participating in the first race of the seasons in spite of the adverse weather conditions and cold temperatures.

First place winner in the Stock Medium Class (Largest class of the race) was Kenny Lovins of Blytheville, Ark. Stock Light Class was won by Joey Lile of Higginsville, Mo. Stock Heavy Class was won by Dusty Baggett of Paducah, Ky.

Senior Champ Class was won by Tyler Stevens of Searcy, Ark. The Over 35 Class was won by Jody Sullivan of Baker, Fla. The Super Heavy Class was won by Abe Martin of Boles, Ill.

The Animal Class was won by Mike Halliburton of Columbia, Mo. The JR 3 Gold Class was won by Justin Joiner of Madisonville, Ky. The JR Stock Class was won by Jeremy Lile of Higginsville, Mo. JR 1 Rookie Class was won by Cole Campbell of Mexico, Mo. The JR Sportsman Champ Class was won by Clay Caldwell of Milington, Tenn. The JR 2 Rookie Class was won by Austin Moore of Owensboro, Ky. The JR Sportsman Champ Aqua was won by John Gilmore of Poplar Bluff, Mo. The Yard Kart Class was won by Dallas Hamilton of Sikeston. The JR Animal Class was won by Ben Stumpf of Menasha, Wis. The JR Animal Champ was won by Ashton McLeod of Cordova, Tenn. The JR Champ Class was won by Meagan Skees of Benton, Ky.

Winners of the Motors donated by the Poplar Bluff Briggs and Stratton Plant were Abe Martin of Boles, Ill., Travis Crawford of Millington, Tenn., Mike Nesbitt of O'Fallon and Jeremy Lile of Higginsville. The donated "Animal Racing Motor" was won by Ben Brewster of St. Mary.

Thanks to all the racers and families who came to race with us in spite of the bad weather. We are thankful for their patience with the rain delays and their participation. A special thank you to our staff and Medics for hanging with us all day without one complaint. Our Medics are with the Scott County First Responder Unit and they are also our Corner Officials.
