The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce staff and volunteers are busy counting down the days until our 12th Annual Redneck Barbecue.
The KCBS-sanctioned barbecue contest and festivities will take place at the Sikeston Jaycee Rodeo Grounds on Sept. 15 and 16.
Friday, Sept. 15, will be a set-up day for our cookers with a Wuz-zat competition taking place that evening. On Saturday, while the barbecue competition is taking place, we will have kids games, ice cream, barbecue sandwiches, jump-n-space, petting zoo and the annual Redneck Dog Show put on by the Humane Society. Awards including $3,600 in prize money will be given out between 3-4 p.m.
It should be a lot of fun for the families and team supporters that come out.

The car show will take place Saturday, Sept. 16, with registration from 9 a.m. to noon and the judging will take place from noon to 3 p.m. Awards will be given out at 4 p.m. The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce will once again have the pleasure of sponsoring the People's Choice Award for this event.
We hope everyone will come out and enjoy these two community events that show off the best in cooking and driving that the Sikeston and Miner areas have to offer.

For businesses wanting to take applications they will need to contact me at the Chamber office or Janie Thurman at Missouri Career Centers for details.
