SIKESTON - Missouri Delta Medical Center recently announced their "Employees of the Month" for September and October.

Tracy Henry is the September honoree. Henry, who has worked in the emergency room as a nurse for five years, was praised for her remarkable attitude and dedication to MDMC. She is "very caring, dependable, a team player, and always puts the patients best interest first,"said a co-worker.

The October "Employee of the Month" is Wanda Parsons, who has worked in MDMC's laundry department for almost 20 years. Praising her years of service to the hospital and its patients, co-workers added: "She is a very sweet and a great person to work alongside. She gets along with everyone."

DECATUR, Ill. - New Madrid, Mo., native Shayla Day was the guest speaker at the kickoff event for GIRL (Grow Into Responsible Leaders) in Decatur. The program is for girls grades 7-12 and pairs them with mentors who spend time with the girls and help and support them.

Day spoke to the girls about her success as a writer and entrepreneur, the importance of setting goals, following dreams, and striving for greatness.
