Arvel O. Long

BENTON -- Arvel Omer Long, 70, died at 1:15 p.m. Dec. 7, 2006, at his home in Benton.

Born Dec. 2, 1936, in Wickliffe, Ky., son of the late Byoma and Addie May Wilson Long, he was a farmer for Tongate Farms in Sikeston. He also attended Unity Baptist Church in Benton.

On Jan. 4, 1972, in West Lebanon, Ind., he married Doris Ann Gore who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Arvel Lee Long of Benton; three brothers, Harry Quertermous of Cape Girardeau, Bobby Long of Marshall and Virgil Long of Benton; and one sister, Carolyn Butrum of Sikeston.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

Visitation is from noon today until time of services at 2 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton. The Rev. Dale Huff of Benton will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Unity Baptist Cemetery at Benton.
