Bell City man is sentenced to prison on felony charges

CAPE GIRARDEAU - A Bell City man was sentenced to prison Monday on felony charges.

Gary Gene Mace, also known as "Hillbilly" Mace, 49, was sentenced to 80 months in prison on one felony count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and one felony count of possession of a firearm. Upon release from prison, he will be placed on supervised release for three years. He appeared before U.S. District Judge Jean C. Hamilton.

Previously with his plea, Mace admitted that on Dec. 7, the Semo Drug Task Force, Stoddard County Sheriff's Department, Bell City Police Department and Advance Police Department executed a search warrant at his residence in Bell City. Located within the residence were a small amount of marijuana, scales, several bags containing methamphetamine packaged for street level distribution and two handguns.
